That’s really clean for that era car in Wisconsin.
If it were a supercharged 3800 I’d probably be going to take a look at it.

no thanks. wrong generation for me.

buy it then take it to Radwood!

While I agree that is a clean relic of its time, id rather have this. 2k for a supercharged sleeper.

That’s a pretty clean example for not a lot of cash. That 3.8 probably has a lot of miles left in it.

LOL...I actually went and searched for them too after my comment and found that one. It doesn’t look too bad, a bit more than “why not” money for me though
![]() 04/03/2018 at 10:03 |

Oh definitely. Those motors have no issue cracking 300k with minimal maintenance.

That’s gotta be a scam ... right .... RIGHT?
No wallet! BAD WALLET!!

I don’t care for that body as much.
If I was to get one of those it would have to be a GXP with the V8:

I prefer them in SSE form, but they are very hard to find these days. I prefer the square body styles, especially in this age of over-rounded, over-angled cars.
My ma had one identical to this:
Had over 300k when she sold it, never had a single issue outside regular maintenance.

It’s a great price for a pretty clean example.
The guy seems pretty honest by the ad. I’m actually thinking about going and checking it out.
![]() 04/03/2018 at 10:16 |

It definitely is. Something about that oddly specific price makes it feel scammy to me, but the ad and pictures do seem legit.
I have zero need for this, and if I’m going to blow a grand on something “fun,” this doesn’t meet my criteria for fun. I do like these cars though.

Eh, I wouldn’t be buying it for “fun”, it would be a great daily cruiser/weekend road tripper.
I’d be buying it for comfortable, efficient cruising.
Likely fix the couple rust spots and run it til it dies, which given the drivetrain, would likely be many trouble free years.

It’s actually very common to see this era car in good shape around here.
I see late 80s-early 90s vehicles in great shape on the regular.
![]() 04/03/2018 at 10:25 |
|
It would be great at that. I don’t need another vehicle for that, which is why I scolded my wallet for trying to jump out of my pocket and open up.

I think the only 80s-90s cars I regularly see in good shape are your typical grandpa/grandma cars like Lincoln Town Cars, Buick LeSabres, etc...otherwise around Milwaukee they look closer to this usually
Okay, maybe not that bad, but you get the point.
![]() 04/03/2018 at 10:39 |

yeah they look neat, But H body is for LeSabers. 10th gen G body is best Bonneville.

Oh god that car brings back memories. Ours wasn’t that bad but it wasn’t much better. My mom bought it off a lease, never understood why.

True but iirc aren’t those prone to transmission issues? I though that the reason people like the SC 3.8L more as it was better suited for the power. Could be wrong as it’s probably a very similar trans and could be more on the weight side.

Honestly don’t know much about the V8 ones. I know they sound great with muffler deletes!

G-body makes the best Lesabre, IMO.
I’ve never been a fan of the Bonneville after the 8th gen, except for the random late 9th gen SSEI.

That’s funny, around here (just north of Madison) I can pick out this era in good shape still.
It’s interesting how moving just a handful of miles in any direction completely changes the automotive layout.

My guess is the roads are salted much less there than in the more urban areas in and around Milwaukee. Plus street parking takes it’s toll on cars...you can usually tell if a car has been street parked since the side facing the street is usually in much worse shape
![]() 04/03/2018 at 12:30 |

Idk about the less salted part, but the street parking I can definitely see.
I always find it entertaining though when people say “All those died years ago!” and I’m always like “Really? I just saw 3 of them yesterday?”.

I mean it’s not hard to see 3 in a day when 2 are in your driveway
:p

It’s five if I count the ones in my driveway ;)

True but what LS doesn’t sound great with muffler deletes.
